This Tajín Tropical Protein Smoothie is a new favorite of mine so I had to share it! It’s so creamy, refreshing and sweet with a little kick! This smoothie is higher in protein without any protein powder with the option to add some for a high protein meal or post-workout snack. {Gluten-Free & Dairy-Free Friendly}

This is what I like to call my “ideal” smoothie combination – it’s thick, ultra creamy from the yogurt, the perfect amount of sweetness and just a little bit spicy in the best way. If you have never had Tajín seasoning it is a blend of chili peppers, lime juice, and salt.
I became obsessed with Tajín after visiting Coldstone and trying their new signature creation. Therefore, this is now my third recipe with a simlar flavor profile! I mean, you buy a whole bottle of it so why not create different recipes with it?
Give this one a try for a tropical smoothie that feels like a beach vacation in a glass! Also check out my Tajín Yogurt Parfaits and Tajín Smoothie Bowl to use up that seasoning!
Why I Love This Smoothie
- Bright, refreshing flavors. The tropical fruit brings bright, juicy flavor while the Tajín adds a pop of citrus and spice. It’s ultra creamy and a little unexpected – definitely gives tropical vacation vibes! A fun summer smoothie option!
- It’s unique! If you’re bored of the same smoothie everyday, definitely give this one a try.
- High in protein and fiber. It’s easily customizable and I provided 3 different ways to make it: with and without protein powder and also using a higher protein milk like Fairlife. The snack option with no protein powder has 15 grams of protein and just 208 calories!
- This is an ideal post-workout smoothie as it provides the electrolytes sodium and potassium from the fruit + salty seasoning. So, great for those who sweat a lot!

How to Make a Tropical Tajín Smoothie
I blend vanilla Greek yogurt with frozen tropical fruit (usually peaches, pineapple, and mango) with that refreshing kick from the Tajín seasoning. If you have never had it before, it adds a salty, citrusy zing and a subtle heat that makes the smoothie so much more interesting.
It’s the kind of smoothie that wakes up your taste buds and make you feel like you’re somewhere warm and sunny. It’s a fun, refreshing way to start your morning or drink as an afternoon pick-me-up!

Ingredients

This recipe makes just one 14-16 ounce serving but can be doubled if you want to share with friends or family! Easily customizable.
- 1/2 cup vanilla Greek yogurt.
- 1 cup tropical fruit – pineapple, peaches, and mango are ideal for this smoothie. Can buy individually or as a frozen fruit medley.
- 1 cup of milk, I used vanilla almond milk. Substituting with light coconut milk could be so rich and delicious!
- 1/2 teaspoon Tajín classico seasoning – plus more for topping. I prefer about 3/4 of a teaspoon and sometimes more total!
- 1 teaspoon of honey or more, optional, depending on your sweetness preference.
- 1 scoop unflavored or vanilla protein powder, optional.
Step-By-Step Directions
- Add yogurt, milk, frozen fruit, and 1/2 teaspoon Tajín seasoning (or more) to a high-speed blender. The protein powder and honey are optional – can always taste test and add honey after blending.
- Blend until smooth and creamy. Adjust the consistency by adding more milk, if needed.
- Pour into a large glass and top with whipped cream. I like to add a little extra Tajín on top before serving for that bright pop of flavor with every sip. Consume immediately.

Easy Customizations
Like I mentioned earlier, light coconut milk as the preferred milk would take this smoothie to the next level!
To make this smoothie dairy-free, use a higher protein plant-based yogurt like Kite Hill and your preferred plant-based milk.
Any of the fruits I mentioned would be ideal for this smoothie – frozen pineapple, mango and/or peaches. I have made it with just peaches and it was so good. That tangy and sweet peach flavor with the salty spice? Amazing.
Add chia seeds to increase the fiber content – however, 7.9 grams per smoothie is pretty good!
Fresh mint or basil might be an interesting flavor enhancer.

Notes
- Sweetness will depend on what kind of yogurt and protein powder are used. Some protein powders have sweeteners in them so less honey may be needed. Adjust per your preference!
